When looking at purchasing a home or if you are already a home owner, one area you want to pay close attention to is the year the home was built. If the home was built before 1978 it is susceptible to being a host of lead paint in the home that could be unknowingly harming you and your family.
Lead was used in a majority of paints in both interior and exterior paints and even used on children’s wooden toys. Contractors used lead in their paints because it provided a nice glossy finish and was desired by many but were unaware of the health risk it was to others until it was used for many years.
One way to ensure your home is free from lead paint or to be in awareness of it being in your home is to have a lead paint inspection conducted. This will either give you the peace of mind knowing your home is safe or allow you to make arrangements to get your home remediated as soon as possible.
